My Profile

I trained professionally as a textile designer at Chelsea School of Art and completed a Master of Philosophy in constructed textiles at Middlesex University. I worked freelance and taught Art & Design at various colleges in and around London before setting up my own business in 1993. The company supplied computer aided design technology, training & consultancy to the clothing industry for over 20 years.
In recent years I decided to return to working by hand and now develop ranges of figurative, semi-abstract and abstract artwork and mixed media with lots of experimentation.  This includes drawing, painting, mixed media and these are sometimes combined with various printmaking techniques.

I am inspired by a vast range of visual stimuli such as light, pattern, movement and form; I love the decorative and illustrative arts, as well as visual effects that are just plain interesting, quirky and sometimes deeply intricate & darkly chaotic. I have an endless and lifelong fascination with colour and texture. Mixing colour using pigments instead of mixes of light using CGI is both interesting and adds another dimension to my work.
I continue to attend classes in technical drawing & painting as well as life classes & life sessions. I exhibit as often as I can and undertake commission work. I run creative workshops on a regular basis inspiring people to develop their own interests & artistic style. I often visit national exhibitions & enjoy the wide variety of artwork & creative styles to be seen.

I have won two national textile design awards (see Awards section) and I am a published author (see History section)

I lived in London for 30 years before moving to Cambridgeshire in 2003 and now live near Huntingdon.
